About Club Mom

Club Mom Alumni was created to help Eckert Centre’s community of Moms continue to inspire and support each other in our greatest task – mothering.

The format of Club Mom Alumni is a series of eight, 2-hour sessions which includes large group instruction and individual exercises. The curriculum theme for this year is outlined below:

As mothers, a primary aspect of our role is to love our kids unconditionally.
This means understanding, accepting, and cherishing the things that make each of our kids unique. We can enhance our ability to do this by understanding each of our children’s temperament.
Temperament is like a blueprint for behaviour, it is our child’s natural style of interacting with or reacting to people, places and things. By intimately understanding temperament, our child’s behaviour becomes less mysterious, more predictable, and a cause for celebration rather than constant frustration.
Understanding the blueprint your child comes with is also important because it represents your child’s “first response” to handling what life sends their way. Yet, at times, this “first response” is not the most adaptive strategy in the long run… they need us to teach them another way of approaching the world. A study of temperament will guide us to tenderly and patiently equip our children on this necessary journey. In this way, temperament becomes more of a constraining force a mother works with than a determining force that decides her child’s future.
Join Kimberly Eckert and Karen Sabourin as we continue our journey of Mothering together. Our Club Mom Alumni group has truly become a safe place for each of us to reveal our concerns, explore the possibilities, and share our sorrows and successes.
